Apple TV VPN Setup

Stream privately on Apple TV by routing through Vela VPN via your router or a shared Mac connection.

ℹ️ Apple TV (tvOS) does not support WireGuard apps directly. Use one of the two methods below to protect your Apple TV with Vela VPN.
Method 1 — VPN Router (Recommended)
  1. Set up Vela VPN on your router using one of the Router Setup guides.

  2. On Apple TV, go to Settings → Network and connect to the VPN-enabled router's Wi-Fi network.

  3. All Apple TV apps (Apple TV+, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+) will now automatically route through Vela VPN.

  4. To verify, open the Apple TV Browser or any streaming app and check for newly available regional content.

Method 2 — Share VPN from Mac
  1. Install WireGuard for macOS from the Mac App Store.

  2. Log in to velavpn.com/account, find your server, and click Download Config to get the .conf file. Import it into the macOS WireGuard app and click Activate.

  3. On your Mac, open System Settings → General → Sharing. Click Internet Sharing.

  4. Set Share your connection from to the WireGuard interface. Set To computers using to Wi-Fi. Enable Internet Sharing.

  5. On Apple TV, go to Settings → Network → Wi-Fi. Connect to the Mac's shared Wi-Fi hotspot (it appears as your Mac's name).

  6. Apple TV is now routed through Vela VPN via your Mac. Streaming apps will use the VPN connection.

💡 For a permanent setup, the router method is strongly recommended. The Mac-sharing method requires your Mac to remain on and logged in with the VPN active.
